Date Night Chronicles: Thanksgiving-Themed Wine Tasting

Updated: Dec 2, 2021

As we head into the holiday season, it’s more important than ever to make sure you and your partner have dedicated time together. The holiday season means increased work demands, holiday schedules, kids being home, and more.

This week is Thanksgiving and the kids will be home most of it, so last week my husband and I scheduled a date night. I’ve blogged about it before, but we absolutely LOVE V-NO Wine Bar and Shop in Baltimore, MD. We follow them on Instagram and they posted about a Thanksgiving-themed wine tasting they were hosting. We love wine, vineyards, and tastings, so we knew this would be the perfect date night.

We grabbed our tickets and blocked the evening off on our calendar. On the day of our date night, things were busy as usual. Since it was during the week, we both worked then had to get the kids settled for the evening since they had school the next day. But that didn’t put a damper on things, we were really excited and ready to go!

The only tough thing is that Baltimore is about 45 minutes away from us. With getting everything prepared and the kids settled, we were about 30 minutes late to the event. That didn’t matter though! We arrived and were immediately welcomed and the staff caught us up on what we missed, including the wines and food. That's one of the things I love about V-NO, it's always warm and friendly.

A new great addition is their heated tent. It’s perfect because it allows you to still have a great view of the water, but you’re nice and warm. And it’s not too hot, you’ll feel room temperature.

We were able to sample a variety of red and white wines. I loved that they had wines at various price points. This allowed attendees to taste a variety of wines and also find wines in their price range (if they wanted to purchase for their Thanksgiving dinner).

The food was also really delicious. It was light and filling. I’ve also wanted to try fruit in my salad, but I’ve been a bit nervous. So when they had grapes in the salad, I knew this was my opportunity. The fruit was really good. Not too overpowering.

While we sampled wine, the staff provided history and background information. They also shared foods to pair with each wine.

To close out the meal we had a yummy brownie and sweet red wine.

I typically love semi-sweet and sweet wines, but the dry wines were amazing!

I love interactive dates, as they give you more opportunities to chat with your partner.
